Senior Carer Co-production and Engagement facilitator

Overview
The postholder will join the West Midlands Provider Collaborative Team as a Senior Carer Co-production and Engagement Facilitator for Adult Eating Disorder and perinatal (maternal and parental) mental health services. The role is developed for people with lived experience of caring for someone through mental health challenges. The aim is to develop co-production, engagement, participation and feedback opportunities to ensure carers and service users are equal partners in planning, delivery and monitoring of services.
Main duties of the job
* Share relevant personal experiences and insights to support other carers both one-to-one and in groups.
* Lead on building a network of carers who wish to share experiences to elicit change, with supervision from senior lived experience colleagues.
* Coordinate co-production opportunities, support training, and help produce relevant resources.
In this dynamic role you will also undertake tasks such as:
* Developing opportunities to engage and co-produce with carers
* Facilitating and co-facilitating workshops to support co-production
* Co-facilitating training sessions
* Attending in-person events to promote the lived experience network and opportunities
* Creating communications and marketing materials
* Providing support and supervision to other members of the lived experience workforce
Lived experience requirement Lived experience of supporting a loved one receiving care from adult mental health services is essential to fulfil the role requirements. Applicants are encouraged to reflect this alongside other skills and experiences when applying.

Qualifications and Experience
Person Specification
Essential
* Lived experience of providing care and support to a loved one accessing secondary care adult mental health services in a personal/unpaid capacity
* Understanding of the challenges associated with mental health and the impact on individuals, carers and families
* Experience of involving and facilitating engagement with service users and their carers
Desirable
* HEE PSW training or equivalent peer working knowledge; willingness to complete Health Education England accredited Peer Support Worker Training
* Experience in NHS and/or third sector mental health organisations
* Experience of supporting individuals with perinatal mental health difficulties or eating disorders
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Understanding of challenges in mental health and the impact on service users and families
* Experience in involvement projects, facilitating meetings and co-production activities
