Overview
This is a full time appointment for a Trust Grade Doctor in Renal Medicine. The appointment is for 6 months but may be extendable. The post is based in the renal unit at St James Hospital, supporting all aspects of renal care including renal transplantation. You will be an integral part of the renal unit working as part of the large multi-professional team. You will be working as part of a 1 in 9 out of hours rota. Applicants should have completed intermediate medical training and have an interest in pursuing a career in renal medicine.
Main duties of the job
* Involved in the running of the inpatient ward areas, taking referrals and queries from other health care providers, working on our day unit.
* Involved in care of patients attending the haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis units.
* Trained in the insertion of temporary and semi-permanent dialysis catheters, attend multidisciplinary team meetings and outpatient specialist clinics.
About us
The renal unit in Leeds is part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The unit is a tertiary referral centre for patients throughout Yorkshire. All aspects of renal care are provided including acute transplantation. There are two inpatient wards, and outreach service to Leeds General Infirmary, onsite haemodialysis for 130 patients, a peritoneal dialysis unit and a specialist outpatient facility. Haemodialysis is delivered to 800 outpatients via 7 satellite units. Home dialysis service expansion. The department has 17 consultants, 2 specialist trust grade doctors, 2 advanced nurse practitioners and a multidisciplinary team including over 200 nursing staff, clinical nurse specialists and allied health professionals.

* Full registration with GMC, current licence to practise
