Location: Swan Valley, Northampton (NN4)
Shift patterns: 4 on 4 off. Day time hours (06:00-18:00)
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)
Join DHL Supply Chain as a Transport First Line Manager in Northampton, supporting our key customer, Morrisons!
We're looking for an energetic, people-focused leader who can drive operational excellence and keep our transport operation running safely, smoothly, and efficiently. In this fast-paced environment, you'll play a vital role in delivering outstanding service to Morrisons while empowering your team to perform at their best every day.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
* Managing a team of up to 15 drivers per shift
* To co-ordinate and supervise the work activities of the team providing effective leadership, communication, motivation, training and development
* Effective team management including planning, managing and adjusting staffing levels to meet operational requirements within a short period of time
* To monitor the performance of people, equipment and processes and highlight to their manager where they think these can be improved or need to change
* Utilising various Transport systems, including Kronos, Tachomaster and Microlise
* To identify and work to solve problems in line with the relevant guidelines or policies
* Enforce and ensure adherence to Health and Safety policy / processes
* Facilitate excellent communication through regular briefings, shift updates and continuous feedback to the team
* Conducting driving related investigations and putting together accident packs
THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO
* Previous Transport Management experience (First Line Manager/Shift Manager/Team Manager level) is essential
* Knowledge of Transport systems (Kronos, Tachomaster, Microlise) is essential
* Proven ability to manage a team of drivers, ensuring planning and training is priorised
* Excellent communication skills - Verbal and written
* Great understanding of Drivers hours and transport systems
* Ability to work on your own initiative and within a team environment
* Promoting a health and safety culture on site
