Job Title - JoinerHours - Full time, 40 hours per week, employedReporting to - Buildings and Projects Manager, Managing PartnerWe are looking to add a highly skilled and experienced Joiner to our expanding building and maintenance team of 15 crafts people. This is a full-time role working in our fully equipped joinery shop at Rotherfield producing products to use and integrate into our property portfolio and the wider estate setting. Crucially, this position will also encompass responsibility for overseeing all Health and Safety requirements in the workshop. Integration and fit with the team are essential, with good time management working to production schedules. A willingness to upskill and share ideas with the team will help this role grow into the future.The role is workshop based, but a familiarity with site work would assist in design ideas and fabrication.The right candidate should have experience working with a range of timbers for internal and external joinery.BackgroundRotherfield is a progressive mixed farming estate in East Hampshire, near Alton. It comprises residential, commercial and agricultural property as well as commercial farming, forestry and environmental management.The Estate is committed to long-term responsible stewardship to help create a sustainable community in which employment is not solely dependent on agriculture or local economic conditions. A strong group of Team Leaders work together directly with the Owner on our long-term strategy of enhancing all the environments across the Estate.We value our team which is predominantly in-sourced and encourage them to succeed and progress in whatever way is most suitable to them.ResponsibilitiesTo contribute to the planning, design and delivery of projectsRespectfully challenge our thinking with alternative ideas and suggestionsInterpret and work from instruction, drawings and specifications appropriate to the respective trade, without supervisionEstimating the materials needed for a job and producing cutting listsAppropriate timber and material selection for the project in handWorking to production schedulesUsing hand and power tools along with machinery safely and efficientlyAssembling timber structures in a workshop, such as window and door framesAttending site as and when requiredConducting quality checksWorkshopTo ensure workshop machinery and equipment is properly maintained and storedTo maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the workshop and yards and ensure working areas are left in a good condition at the end of tasksTo take ownership of the workshop's compliance with Health and Safety regulationsCataloguing and controlling stock of materials and fixingsTeamLiaison with contractors appointed on maintenance tasks, capital projects and minor upgrade worksCommunication with other team members, including the wider teamBe willing to share ideas and advice with team members, to upskill the teamWork into the seasonal flow of the other crafts people on the teamReporting to senior Team LeadsRequirementsDedication, commitment, and genuine pride in a job well done is required of all applicants. Discretion, accountability, strong verbal and written communication skillsUnderstanding of building pathology and repair principlesA sound knowledge of the building and construction industryExperience of carrying out risk assessments and adherence to Health and Safety procedures. Knowledge of COSHH, RAMS, PUWER an advantage.
