Full time position, 1-year contract initially
Pay scale: MPS
Start date: Sept 1st, 2025
Pilgrims’ Way Primary School is excited to announce a new opportunity for an Experienced SEN Teacher to join our inclusive and dedicated team.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate professional with a strong track record of supporting children with complex needs—particularly those working within the Engagement Model. This is a key role in our provision, ideal for someone committed to personalised, child-centred education.
This role will encompass two classes, The Meadow and The Den, each with approximately 6 children.
About the Role:
As our new SEN Teacher, you will:
1. Deliver high-quality, individualised teaching to pupils with a range of learning needs, including intensive interaction, attention autism, and a sensory diet.
2. Plan and implement engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the Engagement Model, focusing on attention, emotional regulation, and social communication.
3. Use a variety of alternative communication tools (e.g., Makaton, Communication boards, AAC devices) to support pupils with communication challenges.
4. Lead the creation, implementation, and regular review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning plans, ensuring tailored and effective provision for each child.
5. Work collaboratively with the SENCO, support staff, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support.
6. Create a safe, nurturing learning environment that promotes inclusion, confidence, and progress.
What We’re Looking For:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant experience in SEN teaching.
* Experience working with pupils assessed under the Engagement Model.
* Skilled in using alternative communication strategies and tools to support non-verbal or minimally verbal children.
* Strong understanding of EHCP processes, including writing, reviewing, and implementing personalised targets and provisions.
* A reflective, empathetic, and flexible practitioner committed to positive outcomes for all learners.
* Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
We Offer:
* A warm, welcoming school environment where every child is valued.
* A committed leadership team and collaborative staff culture.
* Ongoing CPD opportunities tailored to SEN specialism and career development.
* Access to specialist resources and a well-equipped SEN provision.
* A real opportunity to shape the direction and impact of our new SEN provision.
If you are ready to help transform lives and be part of a forward-thinking, child-centred school, we would love to hear from you.
