Job Description:
Job Purpose
Within a clear and established teaching programme, contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by undertaking a range of teaching, assessment, and administrative duties, primarily at undergraduate level, to enhance understanding of key course topics and support students in extracting key learning points from course materials.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Contribute to the planning, organization, and delivery of undergraduate teaching.
2. Deliver a range of teaching and assessment activities aimed at undergraduate students.
3. Participate in course administration duties, including communication, marking, assessment, and providing constructive feedback within required timescales.
4. Assist in developing teaching materials that meet learning objectives.
5. Utilize learning technologies such as Moodle and other IT tools to support course delivery, organization, feedback, and assessment, including online and blended learning.
6. Apply specialist knowledge to meet diverse learner needs, promoting inclusive and evidence-based teaching that encourages participation and learning outcomes.
7. Engage in assessment processes using various methods, including oral assessments, and provide timely, effective feedback.
8. Supervise student projects, dissertations, and practical work, advising on skills and techniques, and supporting diverse learner needs.
9. Participate in professional development activities.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
11. Contribute to enhancing the University’s international profile in line with its Strategic Plan.
Qualifications
* Honours degree (SCQF Level 10) relevant to the teaching area or expertise in a related field, with an understanding of teaching, learning, and assessment principles.
* Registered for and pursuing a PhD (MPhil/PhD) or PGT qualification in a relevant subject.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Expert knowledge of the subject area.
* Experience supporting undergraduate or postgraduate students in online, distance, or face-to-face settings.
* Experience supervising, mentoring, or teaching students in practical and active learning environments.
* Relevant administrative experience (e.g., student support, course administration).
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Proficiency in IT and relevant software for teaching and learning support.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
