We are seeking an exceptional and passionate individual to join our team as Head of Nursing for Children's Services. This is a pivotal leadership role with an opportunity to make a difference to children, families, and staff across our Trust.
As Head of Nursing, you will champion the delivery of child‑centred care that is safe, effective, and tailored to the unique needs of each child. You will help create a child‑friendly environment, ensure safeguarding standards are met, and promote dignity, privacy, and respect in every interaction. Your leadership will inspire teams to go above and beyond, making a difference to the lives of children and their families.
We provide a comprehensive and integrated approach to the care of infants, children, and young people within both the acute and community setting. We have a dedicated Nursing Team inclusive of community, specialist and school nurses supporting children within schools and their home.

Main duties
* Provide professional leadership for all nurses within Children's Services across the Trust and community settings ensuring the highest standards of clinical and professional care.
* Lead and develop the nursing workforce, supporting Matrons, Lead Nurses, and Managers to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care.
* Drive the patient safety agenda, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Advise on complex nursing care and delivery issues, working closely with the Associate Chief Nurse and wider senior leadership team.
* Manage nursing resources, workforce planning, and performance, ensuring efficient use of budgets and adherence to Trust policies.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development.
* Represent the Trust at internal and external forums, acting as an ambassador for children's nursing.
* There will also be an element of this role that will support key workstreams in the Adult Community Directorate and this will be discussed further at interview. The Head of Nursing role will reach into Community to support elements of both patient experience and clinical governance.

Person Specification – Education, Qualifications and Training
* Registered Children's Nurse
* Relevant degree
* Master's degree or equivalent level of skill acquired through experience
* Formal teaching and assessing award
* Formal management qualification or equivalent level of skill acquired through experience
* Evidence of ongoing relevant professional development
Experience & Knowledge Required
* Relevant experience in nursing management at Band 8a or above
* Understanding and experience of clinical governance and quality management
* Proven experience of leading and delivering the patient safety agenda
Desirable
* Community Services experience
