Overview

Location: Brighton - City Campus and Moulsecoomb

Salary: £41,064 to £48,822 per annum

This position provides an excellent opportunity to play an important and active role in our Journalism lecturing team. This full-time, permanent role will contribute to teaching and research as a lecturer across our four NCTJ-accredited journalism courses – BA (Hons) Journalism, BA (Hons) Sports Journalism, MA Journalism, and MA Sports Journalism – in the media subject area of the School of Art and Media. You will work with colleagues to realise a collective vision that will take the courses forward.


Responsibilities

Contribute to teaching and research as a lecturer across the four NCTJ-accredited journalism courses – BA (Hons) Journalism, BA (Hons) Sports Journalism, MA Journalism, and MA Sports Journalism – within the School of Art and Media.

Collaborate with colleagues to realise a collective vision that advances the courses.


Qualifications

* a relevant degree in BA or MA Journalism
* Recent and substantive industry experience of core news reporting and production practices in multimedia and multi-platform settings.
* Expertise in how digital and social media is used in journalism practice.
* Commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion in both higher education and journalism environment.
* Up-to-date, sound knowledge of the subject including current professional/vocational developments and the range of generic skills required.
* Strong research and scholarly track record or a clear sense of career trajectory in this direction.
* Teaching experience in journalism at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level and a professional qualification in journalism awarded by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) would be preferable.
* High level knowledge of the technical aspects of journalism including TV and radio studio production, audio-visual editing, content management systems, and page design software is also an advantage.
