Aseptic Pharmacy Services Technician
Location: Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Road, London SW5 0TU.
Salary: £36,300 per annum plus benefits.
Employment type: Permanent, Full time (37.5 hours per week).
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm.
Job description: The pharmacy service is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 8pm and Saturday from 9:00am to 2:30pm. The role supports the delivery of exceptional hospital pharmacy aseptic services in the Oncology Pharmacy and Aseptic Unit. The successful candidate will prepare systemic anti‑cancer treatment (SACT) and other treatments, contribute to the operation of the clean room, perform environmental monitoring, maintain stock and safety, and undergo in‑house training.
What You’ll Do
* Work as a member of the oncology pharmacy aseptic production team delivering a safe, effective and efficient SACT and non‑SACT aseptic dispensing service in accordance with SOPs.
* Perform daily, weekly and monthly environmental monitoring in the aseptic unit.
* Undertake housekeeping duties and unit sanitisation to maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
* Assemble ingredients for items to be prepared according to worksheets and SOPs, recording batch numbers, expiry dates and checking for any particle discolouration or breakages.
* Produce labels and add charges for medicines to be dispensed for patients.
* Conduct sanitisation processes on all drugs and equipment entering the cleanroom and critical work zones following departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
* Routinely compound SACT products including monoclonal antibodies and cytotoxic drugs, requiring accurate manipulation, attention to detail, competence and precision while measuring and checking volumes and ingredients.
* Undertake environmental monitoring duties including monitoring and recording of temperatures and aseptic unit pressures to ensure products are manufactured within a suitable environment.
* Stock control duties including unpacking, stock takes and ordering of medicinal products and consumables.
* Generate chemotherapy worksheets and labels according to prescription.
* Dispense and label pharmaceutical products for in‑patient/day case and out‑patient use.
* Complete in‑house training programmes and associated competencies within a reasonable time frame.
* Compound components using negative pressure isolators and wearing all appropriate PPE.
What You’ll Bring
* GSCEs in Science, Maths and English.
* BTEC / NVQ3 in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacy Skills or PTTP (or equivalent).
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPHC.
* Minimum of 1 year hospital experience in an aseptic service pharmacy technician role.
