We are looking for a Construction Monitor to join our Fort Hills Team. In this role you will provide consistent reliable and efficient geotechnical guidance to operations, planning and engineering groups.

Minimum Requirements:
* A diploma in civil engineering technology or degree in civil/geotechnical engineering
* Experience in geotechnical construction monitoring, instrumentation monitoring, including drilling, installation and reading of slope inclinometers, piezometers, and other dyke monitoring activities
* Experience with the operation and maintenance of portable moisture and density testing gauges
* Demonstrated ability to lead multiple and changing priorities under tight deadlines with strong decision-making skills
* A valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:
* Complete geotechnical inspections of assigned work areas and raise issues and report anomalies
* Perform geotechnical monitoring and testing for earth dam construction, foundation approvals, compaction testing/lift approvals, materials sampling at placement areas, pit inspections to assess geohazards and borrow source material
* Conduct instrumentation readings including slope indicators, piezometers and standpipes if required to support construction
* Complete scope modifications or decommissioning of instrumentation in assigned area of responsibility
* Create, maintain and follow up of both documented reporting and informal communication loops required for the completion of field activities (non-conformance reporting, monthly area surveillance reports and cross shift reporting)
Location and other Key Details:
* You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site, located in Alberta's Athabasca region, 90 kilometers north of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
* You will either fly to and from work from our Calgary or Edmonton hubs or bus in from Fort McMurray (relocation to a hub will not be provided).
* The shift schedule is a seven days on /seven days off rotation (seven days on, seven days off, seven nights on, seven nights off; 12-hour shifts).
* This position has been identified as safety sensitive.
