Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in Huddersfield looking to take the next step in your career? Academics is recruiting a confident and resilient HLTA to work within an SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school setting, delivering lesson cover during teacher PPA and management time.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting students who require structure, consistency, and strong relationships to succeed.
About the role:
* Leading whole-class sessions in the absence of the class teacher
* Covering lessons across a range of subjects during PPA and leadership release time
* Supporting students with SEMH needs to remain engaged and on task
* Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
* Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
What we’re looking for:
* HLTA status or significant experience in a similar role
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
* Confidence in leading a classroom independently
* Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
* A calm, consistent, and proactive approach
