Pay Rate: £23.19 per hour PAYE / £35.00 per hour Umbrella
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week
Clearance: Basic DBS required
Role Summary:
Clarion Housing is seeking a skilled Maintenance Surveyor to carry out inspections and manage the delivery of responsive repairs, voids, and cyclical maintenance in the SG1 area. This role ensures compliance, quality control, and contractor performance across a £10m regional budget. The postholder will be responsible for both technical surveying duties and oversight of contractual service delivery—contributing directly to customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Inspections & Reporting
* Conduct pre- and post-inspections for repairs, voids, and cyclical maintenance
* Identify defects and make recommendations for repair or improvement
* Ensure work is completed to agreed time, cost, and quality standards
* Prepare technical documentation including specifications, reports, and quotes
Contractor & Compliance Oversight
* Monitor contractor performance across works programmes
* Ensure works align with KPIs and Clarion standards
* Maintain accurate systems records and support legal disrepair responses
* Manage small projects and support CDM compliance
Financial & Risk Management
* Support financial controls and ensure spend remains within delegated authority
* Process and authorise insurance claims where appropriate
* Prepare and assess cost estimates for planned and reactive works
Stakeholder Engagement
* Engage with, leaseholders, contractors, and internal teams
* Act as a technical reference for the wider team
* Support coordination of subcontractors and suppliers on the ground
Professional Development & Safety
* Stay up to date with legislation, industry standards and best practice
* Follow health and safety policies and manage risks on site
* Participate in ongoing training, including CPD and professional accreditation
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Diploma Level 3 in Surveying, Property and Maintenance
* Member of a professional body (e.g. RICS or CIOB)
* Strong knowledge of housing sector regulations, health & safety, and construction standards
* Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Excellent communication and reporting skills
* Experience managing repairs and maintenance within a housing context
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Degree in a related field
* Experience in a housing association or local authority
* Understanding of CDMC
* Flexibility for occasional out-of-hours meetings or property visits
