The Role:
Established in Leicester in 2015, Chaiiwala is a market leader and pioneer within the café space for Indian street food. Since it launched the business has experienced exponential growth and has stores across three different countries with a robust franchise modal to rollout further stores. To date Chaiiwala has over 100 stores in the UK, 21 in Canada (launched 2021) and 3 in Dubai (launched 2022).
Chaiiwala has a vision to become the "Go-To Indian Street Food Café" and is on a mission to make Indian street food accessible anytime of the day. Widely regarded as UK's leading Indian street food café with a western twist with its authentic and contemporary menu items it goes beyond serving delicious Indian street food. The proposition is all about serving Indian street food that's bursting with traditional flavours reimagined for contemporary palates.
The Junior Designer will play a key role alongside existing design agencies in shaping Chaiiwala's visual identity, managing and creating assets for a variety of exciting and diverse projects. One day, this could involve designing menus, posters, and packaging, and the next, it may be social media graphics, billboards, and digital promotional screens. This is an exciting opportunity for budding creatives to build a strong portfolio within a fast-growing marketing team and a multinational business.
We are looking for someone with a strong design eye, a natural ability to spot industry trends, and excellent organisational skills. A passion for design, marketing, and food is essential. The ideal candidate will work well in a team, be comfortable handling administrative tasks, and be confident in communicating with colleagues at all levels while supporting the marketing function across different departments and stores.
Job Responsibilities:
· Working closely with the Marketing Director and team, the Junior Designer will be responsible for developing and creating visual assets in line with briefs, ensuring they align with the wider marketing strategy.
· Managing asset organisation, procurement, and creative briefs, as well as working with agencies, suppliers, and internal teams to produce high-quality content.
· The role also involves monitoring competitor activity and emerging trends to ensure Chaiiwala remains at the forefront of creative innovation.
· Championing the establishment of brand guidelines and conventions, as well as the enforcement of.
· Provide marketing support to franchisees and store teams where required
· Maintain an up-to-date brand resource library, with a clear catalogue of items such that any collateral can be easily located and leveraged when required.
· Ability to create a clear 'look and feel' across multiple marketing touchpoints, synonymous with the brand of "Chaiiwala")
· Assist in updating marketing calendars and preparing marketing presentations.
Preferred skills and knowledge:
· Educated to degree level (preferably in design, communications, graphic design) or have equivalent work experience/portfolio
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Proficiency in the adobe creative suite (particularly photoshop, illustrator and InDesign)
· Proficiency in premiere pro and aftereffects (significant advantage)
· A creative thinker with a keen eye for design and detail.
· Highly organised with a strong ability to multitask.
· A key understanding of design theory paired with marketing principles
· Previous experience designing for an F and B business (desirable)
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
· Willing to learn new skills and step out of comfort zone.
· Execute with speed, following through on commitments in a timely manner.
· Comfortable collaborating with and presenting to colleagues of all experience levels.
· A genuine passion for food and marketing with a desire to keep up to date with the latest trends and best practices.
