Are you an ambitious SENCO seeking to lead inclusion in a diverse Sheffield school from January 2026? We are working with a primary school in Sheffield that wants a SENCO to drive whole-school improvement in SEND practice and to strengthen links with external services.
The SENCO will develop the school’s SEND strategy, allocate resources effectively, and provide accountable leadership of interventions and support staff. This role involves a blend of strategic planning and detailed casework: the SENCO will chair review meetings, manage statutory paperwork and coordinate multi-disciplinary support to secure the best outcomes for children. The appointment will begin January 2026 and will include a comprehensive induction and partnership-building with Sheffield local authority teams.
Key responsibilities
* Lead development of a whole-school SEND strategy, ensuring a consistent graduated approach.
* Manage EHCP applications and reviews, chairing statutory meetings and liaising with external professionals.
* Oversee impact-evaluation of interventions and report on progress to governors and leaders.
* Build staff capacity through targeted training and mentoring focused on inclusive classroom practice.
* Strengthen collaborative working with Sheffield services, health professionals and families to meet children’s needs.
Person specification
* Qualified teacher with SENCO accreditation or equivalent experience in SEND leadership.
* Thorough knowledge of national SEND guidance and experience of multi-agency working in Sheffield.
* Proven ability to lead staff development, analyse outcomes and make data-informed decisions.
* Calm, compassionate and resilient with strong organisational skills.
* Ready to start January 2026 and to establish strong local partnerships across Sheffield.
