About the Role
Be a visible, approachable and competent Health & Safety presence across Forza, helping colleagues work safely every day, ensuring we meet our legal duties and driving continuous improvement in our safety culture.
Responsibilities
Act as a competent point of contact for Health & Safety advice, supporting managers and colleagues to work safely.
Carry out routine site inspections and audits; record findings and agree corrective actions, following through to closure.
Complete and review risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work (SSOW) for tasks, equipment and processes.
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; produce clear reports with root cause and actionable recommendations.
Support delivery of H&S inductions for new starters, contractors and visitors; deliver toolbox talks and briefings as required.
Maintain H&S documentation, registers and records (e.g., training, inspections, statutory checks) and contribute to KPI reporting.
Support emergency preparedness: emergency procedures, drills, and coordination of actions arising from drills/inspections.
Work closely with Production and Maintenance to identify hazards, improve controls and embed safer working practices.
Support contractor management on site, including safe working arrangements and supervision standards.
Undertake project work and other reasonable duties as required by the business.
Qualifications
Essential:
Proven experience in a Health & Safety advisory role within a manufacturing/industrial environment.
Practical experience completing risk assessments, inspections, audits and incident investigations.
Experience delivering inductions/toolbox talks and engaging colleagues at all levels.
Working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and HSE expectations.
Desirable:
Explicit woodworking risk management (LEV, wood dust, DSEAR).
Fire safety governance (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005).
Contractor & permit-to-work systems.
Health surveillance programme coordination.
ISO 45001 internal auditing.
Required Skills
Essential:
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) and commitment to ongoing CPD.
Membership of IOSH (or working towards, e.g., TechIOSH/GradIOSH).
Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
Strong report-writing and attention to detail; able to manage actions to closure.
Practical, solutions-focused approach and confident working on the shopfloor in PPE.
Desirable:
Internal auditor training/qualification (ISO
NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent fire safety training.
Outcomes
This role is measured by:
Reduction in incidents/near misses and improved reporting quality.
Completion of planned inspections/audits and timely close-out of actions.
Risk assessments/SSOW completed and reviewed to schedule.
Inductions and priority H&S training delivered on time and to standard.
Incident investigations completed within agreed timescales with effective corrective actions.
Positive audit/inspection outcomes and sustained legal compliance.
