Job summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Support Worker to join the team at HMP Bullingdon – a Category B male remand and resettlement prison near Bicester. This full‑time role involves working an average of 37.5 hours per week across a variety of shifts between Monday and Sunday, including weekends and nights. Hours run from 07:30 to 19:30, with a rota available six weeks in advance.
Annual salary ranges from £27,543 to £31,789, depending on experience. The role includes bespoke induction, the Introducing Health in Justice training course, a competency framework, regional and national career development opportunities, and a bespoke Learning Management System.
Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job
* Provide care across primary care, clinics, health promotion, bloods, OBS, wound care and other clinical duties.
* Carry out induction duties for new patients, including review, observation and urine sampling.
* Work within Early Days in Custody, substance misuse and inpatients settings.
* Participate in bloods and vaccination clinics.
* Respond to emergency situations as necessary.
* Ensure continuity of care for all patients and deliver outstanding care at all times.
* Contribute to and implement care packages, health promotion, wellbeing and clinic support.

Qualifications and experience
Our new Healthcare Assistant will ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Healthcare and have prior experience in a hospital or prison setting, with experience in A&E considered beneficial. A non‑judgemental, compassionate approach and the desire to make a difference are essential.

* Experience in a secure setting or A&E is a bonus.
* Compassionate, patient‑centred attitude.
