We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented PharmacyTechnician to join our general practice team. Working closely with GPs,pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals, the Pharmacy Technician willplay a key role in supporting safe, effective, and efficient use of medicinesacross the practice. We would expect the Pharmacy Technician to use their knowledge in the followingareas:

assist patients withcomplex medication queries andprovide advice to patients and staff under supervision

conduct audits toincrease patient safety and monitoring

conduct clinicalsessions working with patients to review or titrate their medication

work autonomously toidentify shortfalls in medication safety

undertake projectsusing their skills to aid both the patients and the Practice

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, excellentattention to detail, and a patient-focused approach to care. Previous General Practiceexperience is preferred but not essential.


Main duties of the job

May include any or all of the items in the following list.

Deal withdrug alerts & put structured plans in place to prepare alternatives whensupply issues occur & monitor Drug and Device alerts from the MHRA

Conductaudits on prescribing within the practice as required

Reconcilemedication on hospital d/s

Processhospital letters + medication requests/amendments

Auditpatients with high levels of medications and look at ways to improvepolypharmacy

CQCsearches and actions

ESCAs

Assist withwork ups for SMRs, Medication reviews.

Add/amendmedication on patient records ensuring processes are followed to allow relevantchecks to be made by clinicians

Help ensurethat the Presc Enq Team & all clinicians are prescribing in the most costeffective way and provide them with up to date information on most cost effectiveproducts & ways to do this.

Assist inannual prescribing/medication projects Medicines Optimisation Incentive Scheme(MOIS) cost containment projects and LCS work.

Up keep ofpatient records to ensure prescriptions are written in line with MEP & GPhCguidance.

Liaisingwith local pharmacies, community nurse teams, local hospitals & local carehomes.

Supportwith training members of the Presc Enq Team as required

Respondingto the needs & wants of the business to ensure excellent patient care

Conductclinical sessions with patients either over the phone or face-to-face.

Job Summary:

Audit patients withhigh levels of medications and look at ways to improve polypharmacy

CQC searches andactions

Assist with work upsfor SMRs, Medication reviews.

Add/amend medicationon patient records and ensuring processes are followed to allow relevant checksto be made by clinicians

Help ensure that thePrescription Enquiry Team and all clinicians are prescribing in the most costeffective way and provide them with up to date information on most cost effectiveproducts and ways to do this.

Assist in annualprescribing/medication projects set out by NHS England and Sussex ICB includingMedicines Optimisation Incentive Scheme (MOIS) cost containment projects and LCSwork.

Up keep of patientrecords to ensure prescriptions are written in line with MEP (Medicines, Ethicsand Practice) & GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council) guidance.

Liaising with localpharmacies, community nurse teams, local hospitals and local care homes.

Support with trainingmembers of the Prescription Enquiry Team as required

Responding to theneeds and wants of the business to ensure excellent patient care

Conduct clinicalsessions with patients either over the phone or face-to-face such as lipid clinics,hypertension reviews and DOAC annual reviews.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Pharmacy technician NVQ level 3 or equivalent
* Good standard og gneral educaiton (numerate and good standard of English.
* Experience within a pharmacy, dispensary or similar.
* Experience in dealing with a wide range of people in different situations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team with the insight to acknowledge the limits of own knowledge and when it is necessary to refer.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Can do attitude to daily tasks, adversity and new ways of working
* CPPE pathway completed
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Willingness to work flexibly to cover holidays and sickness
* Experience with Primary Care
* Experience of using TTP SystemOne clinical system
