MRJ Associates are working on behalf of our client Tower Hamlets Council, who are recruiting for Permit Schemes Administrator within the Local Authority paying up to £23.75ph.
YOUR NEW CONTRACT
* Minimum 3 Months contract - Starting ASAP
* 35 hours per week across a 5-day rota.
* Up to Payrate £23.75 per hour (Umbrella)
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide a high quality, responsive and cost-effective Parking Permits Service which meets the diverse needs of the community and complies with statutory requirements, Council Policy, guidance and codes of practice. To provide specialist advice to front line staff and customers in respect of cases presenting unusual circumstances or complexities, and/or where the exercise of discretion is required to resolve the issues presented by the customer. To deal with applications for any parking permits issued by the Council providing an impartial, responsive, helpful and professional service to each customer
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* To be responsible for correctly processing applications for parking permits submitted by post and via the Web
* To be responsible for providing sound specialist advice on any aspect of the Council’s parking permit schemes to Members, senior managers, customers and colleagues
* To be responsible for investigating difficult and complex applications and cases (as referred by One Stop Shops, Customer Contact Centre and Cashiers) and resolve in accordance with Council Policy, as necessary speaking to the customer to obtain further information and exercising discretion in order to come to a satisfactory solution.
* To maintain an awareness of fraud in daily activities and to actively work to establish a service that is free from fraud through the careful screening of applications, refusal of applications that do not meet the Council’s stated criteria, and by noting and reporting suspicious activity
* To contribute to the overall development of Parking Services within the Borough
* To activity assist in the development of the Council’s parking permit schemes making suggestions for improvements, carrying out data collection, research and benchmarking, participating in quality circles and resolving issues that arise in the implementation of change
* To be responsible for providing members of the public with accurate information and advice in relation to the Council’s parking permit schemes and general advice in relation to any other parking or highway/transportation issues. This will include dealing with irate and/or distressed customers by telephone
Experience, Knowledge
* Controlled Parking Zones and Parking Permit Schemes
* Experience of a complex rule-based administrative environment
* Excellent IT, written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to self-motivate and work on own initiative or as part of a team.
* Ability to organise, plan and prioritise own workload.
* Ability to meet deadlines, performance standards and targets whilst maintaining quality services within a changing environment.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, solution focused in approach.
* Knowledge and awareness of the equal opportunities’ issues involved when working within a diverse inner London community
