The job itself
A Pensions Payroll Assistant position has been created in the pensions payroll team at East Riding Pension Fund. The vacancy is full time, but applications for full time or part time working will be considered.
The Team
East Riding Pension Fund, based in Goole, administers the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for the four unitary Authorities in the region (East Riding of Yorkshire, Hull, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire), plus over 340 other local employers and organisations. It has a membership of more than 130,000 active, deferred and pensioner members.
The Candidate
As a Pensions Payroll Assistant, you will assist the Senior Pensions Officer to provide scheme members receiving a pension with relevant and timely information, for ensuring that data is correct and up to date, and that payments made are accurate in accordance with pensions, payroll and HMRC legislation. You will also undertake calculations to establish under or overpayments following a death.
You will be part of a busy team where deadlines must be met. You should have strong numeracy skills with attention to detail, be able to use your own initiative, have good organisational skills and be able to manage your own workload. Good communication skills are also essential as the section strives to provide a high level of customer service. Experience of payroll administration would be highly advantageous.
The section uses an IT based Local Government Pension Scheme administration system in conjunction with an electronic document management system (EDMS) and electronic workflow monitoring together with Microsoft 365 and Office. Good IT skills together with a good standard of education in Mathematics and English are required.
The pensions section supports hybrid working and is committed to providing flexibility wherever possible to help employees balance their home and work commitments. This includes employees being able to combine office working with remote working following a period of initial training based at our offices in Goole. The successful candidate will undergo a full training programme.
