Job Purpose
Assistant Farm Manager will work closely with the Farm Manager to oversee day‑to‑day operations of a pig finishing unit, ensuring animal well‑being, performance and compliance with welfare and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Farm Manager in ensuring team engagement, communication and achievement of department targets.
* Provide leadership across departments on call as required, including feed and alarm systems management.
* Act as Farm Manager in absence, supervising all stock and implementing animal health strategies agreed with the Company Vet.
* Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records for all farm activities (cloud farming, licences, feed and raw material management, stock, health traceability, staff clocking, training, etc.).
* Work with other business departments when needed.
* Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental compliance and uphold a safety culture.
* Minimise or eliminate health, safety or environmental hazards.
* Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures and relevant welfare, Red Tractor and environmental standards.
Job Requirements – Essential
* Positive can‑do attitude and willingness to learn quickly in a changing environment.
* Experience working with growing and finishing pigs.
* Good level of English and maths.
* Basic IT skills; experience with computerised liquid feeding and environmental control systems.
* Excellent animal welfare knowledge, hygiene practice and biosecurity protocols.
* Strong communication, detail orientation and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent time management.
Job Requirements – Desirable
* Previous experience managing people (full training provided).
* Experience with day‑to‑day farm operations.
* Valid driving licence.
