An exciting opportunity for a Graduate or experienced Software Engineer to join an innovative stealth start‑up in Saffron Walden as an R&D Software Engineer, tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Location: Saffron Walden, UK – fully on‑site due to the nature of the role
Salary: £38,000 for a new Graduate – up to £60,000 for experienced candidates
Qualifications
* Outstanding academic background: 1st class honours or high 2.1 degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics, Electronics or a similar field
* Minimum AAA at A Level or equivalent UCAS points
* Knowledge in Computer Vision, Image Processing or RF is highly desirable (include details on your CV)
* Strong problem‑solving ability
* Absolute willingness and proactive attitude to learn, asking questions to expand the knowledge base
* Exposure to Embedded Development, Hardware Development, SDRs, Docker, Cloud technologies, or Mobile App Development (iOS or Android) is beneficial (include on your CV)
* Eligibility to qualify for SC Clearance (typically undisturbed residence in the UK for 5+ years, clean criminal record, etc.)
Responsibilities
* Contribute to various technical tasks supporting R&D objectives, gaining hands‑on experience across software engineering, data science, and machine learning in a dynamic start‑up setting
* Collaborate with team members to design and develop software solutions addressing unique company challenges
* Develop techniques for data collection, preprocessing, and optimisation to support machine learning and algorithm development
* Manage and maintain operational company systems, primarily Linux‑based
