Overview
Ward Manager - Critical Care at NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group. Band 7, part time 25 hours per week. Secondment: 12 months (Monday to Friday - office hours). Location: Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool.
Salary: £47,810 - £54,710 per annum, pro rata. Closing date: 05/10/2025 23:59.
Responsibilities
* The post holder will have management responsibility for the department over the 24hr period, ensuring a high standard of nursing care.
* Develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care; provide effective leadership and staff management/development.
* Work within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* Maintain adequate staff cover and skill mix on the ward through effective use of staffing rotas.
* Ensure staff compliance with mandatory training and maintain current records.
* Ensure effective communication with patients, their carers and relatives; liaise with nursing, medical and allied health professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
* Facilitate smooth transfer and after-care of patients; support the safety and quality agenda of patient care and staff management; ensure alignment with Trust values and objectives; improve patient outcomes.
* Support patient journey from admission to discharge; identify risks and formulate actions to reduce risk; ensure patient throughput is effective.
* Support the Matron, Consultants and the Multi-Disciplinary Team and deputise for seniors in their absence.
* Participate in Senior Nurse Directorate cover as necessary.

* Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
* Teaching and assessing qualification
* Post registration qualification in specialty

* 1st level degree or studying towards
Experience

* Demonstrable experience at Band 6 level or above
* Evidence of effective ward management and leadership skills
* Evidence of staff development, including pre and post registration students
* Evidence of application of current nursing issues and developments
* Evidence of managing change
* Evidence of developing standards of nursing care through clinical benchmarking
