We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 shunter driver to provide temporary cover for a permanent team member. This is an immediate start position with the potential for extension depending on business needs.
This is a day shift position with a 4 on / 4 off working schedule, starting at 6 a.m.
As an LGV Class 1 Shunter, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers within our customers facility.
Duties:
- Shunt trailers within the yard using a TUG vehicle.
- Perform safety checks on the vehicle before and after each shift
- Communicate with the various teams to ensure timely movement of trailers
- Follow all company policies and procedures regarding safety and security
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
* Refuelling trailers when required
* Liasing directly with customer departments on trailer movements
-Ensuring trailers are presented for maintenance as per the schedule
-Reporting any defects with trailers
-Ensure temperature monitoring controls are carried out
-Other duties as required by the Transport Manager or the Transport team.
Experience:
- Valid LGV Class 1 license
- Proven experience as a shunter preferred
-A minimum of two years proven Class 1 experience
- Familiarity with fridge trailers preferred
- Strong knowledge of commercial driving regulations and best practices
- Excellent communication skills
* Ability to perform well under pressure
