Trust Fellow in Paediatric Cardiology

This is an exciting opportunity to gain and extend your clinical experience in Paediatric Cardiology, in one of the leading units in the unique and supportive environment at GOSH. In the post you will be working within one of the largest and busiest units in the country. GOSH offers exposure to all the cardiac subspecialties including heart failure and transplantation, pulmonary hypertension and inherited cardiovascular diseases. The post-holder will enjoy a working environment of active training and education and will be encouraged to take an active role in the department's on-going program of audit and clinical research. Our clinical fellows will have access to training opportunities in ward-based assessments, consultant supervised training clinic, echocardiography and cardiac catherisation etc.

Applicants must have full registration with GMC and meet Key Requirements below.

Key Requirements:

Prior clinical experience in paediatric cardiology or ACHD at either a registrar or SHO level


Main duties of the job

Main duties and responsibilities:

The post holder will be responsible for the continued delivery of Cardiology Services at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. This post will play a central role in the provision of cardiac services at Great Ormond Street and will work at middle grade level with the other registrars employed by the trust. This includes ward rounds, review of postoperative patients, echocardiography, and paediatric outpatient clinics. Specific duties will be dependent on relevant skills and experience.

The post may also involve duties within the cardiac transplant and pulmonary hypertension teams as required. Experience and training will/may be available in a wide range of paediatric cardiology activity including echocardiography, ECG and 24-hour ECG monitoring, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, pulmonary hypertension and management of the postoperative paediatric cardiac patient.

Person Specification

* Primary medical qualification - MBBS or equivalent
* Full GMC registration with Licence to Practice or IELTS Certificate with an overall score of 7.5 or Occupational English Test (medicine version) with a minimum score of 'B' in each domain
* MRCP or MRCPCH
* Higher degree - MSc, MPhil related discipline

* At least 1 years' experience in paediatrics and 6 months neonates

* Ability to work under pressure in a multi-disciplinary environment
* Ability to prioritise clinical needs
* Evidence of ability to make clinical decisions and to manage clinical problems
* Evidence of ability to work in a clinical team
