Automation Engineer – Deeside / Chester Area – Days – Electrical/Controls/PLCs £50-56k Quarterly Bonus Scheme 10% Employer Pension Contribution Private Medical = £57-68k package salary review in 2026 Samuel Frank is recruiting for an Automation Engineer to a join a globally recognised manufacturing company with a large base in the Deeside / Chester area. Key aspects of the Automation Engineer position include – * Knowledge of PLCs, controls & automation. Whilst the Automation Engineer won’t be programming PLCs, knowledge of them and how they work/are coded is a key element of the role * Automation Engineer will lead a small team including an Electrical Supervisor and two Electrical Technicians * Minimum qualification of HNC in an Electrical discipline, ideally time served and must have “hands on” experience/background * Knowledge of variable speed drives - ideal * Hydraulics and pneumatics experience – desirable, not essential * An Automation Engineer looking to further themselves and looking to gain Chartered status will be considered favourably (and will be supported in doing so by the business) * The role will be primarily office based (75%) as well as working on the shopfloor (25%) * You will receive regular, specialist training on current and emerging technologies, an annual salary review, 10% employer pension contribution and a range of staff discounts with some major UK brands. * As part of the successful Automation Engineer’s salary, there’s a monthly payment for approx 170 hours annualised hours (works out at x1.25 overtime rate), which covers for around 3-4 hours per week overtime. * Hours are 8-4pm Monday-Thursday and 8-3pm on Fridays * Bonus isn’t guaranteed, however over recent quarters it’s paid roughly 5% of base salary * 25 days holiday Bank Holidays The company is located in the North West and is easily commutable from the following places; Deeside, Chester, Wrexham, Ellesmere Port, Broughton, Liverpool, Northwich, Runcorn, Widnes and Warrington
