We are seeking a proactive and organised Business Support Officer to provide essential administrative support to the council’s Waste Service. This role is key to ensuring smooth operational delivery and helping the City Council meet its priorities for residents.Working within a supportive team, you will contribute to efficient day-to-day service management and act as a reliable point of contact for both internal colleagues and external stakeholders. This role offers 30 hours per week and flex hours and is fully on-site.
Your new role
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality administrative support, including:
1. Providing flexible and professional business support to internal and external customers
2. Managing shared customer support inboxes
3. Handling and resolving queries in a timely manner
4. Maintaining accurate database and digital records
5. Taking minutes during meetings
6. Supporting colleagues daily to ensure deadlines are met
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively are essential to success.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will bring:
7. Experience in administrative or business support roles—public sector or localernment experience is desirable.
8. Confidence in managing reception and general administrative duties
9. Strong written and verbalmunication skills
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
11. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
12. Ability to manage a varied workload, meet deadlines, and work independently
