We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative candidate to join us as a Senior Lecturer in Law and Practice. You will join an enthusiastic team committed to delivering teaching, research and academic enterprise, which contributes to the School, Faculty and University’s strategic ambitions. A commitment to high quality teaching and learning is essential and you should be willing to share the University’s core values of creating a learning environment that is inclusive, challenging and promotes collaboration, professionalism and confidence.

The University of Wolverhampton holds a distinctive place within the higher education sector, and is one of the most successful modern universities, delivering excellence in teaching and research, widening access, and in business engagement. Having begun life nearly 190 years ago to enhance education and skill base of the workforce in what is today a major industrial conurbation, we have continued to fulfil and develop the role to meet the needs of the region we serve. Today as the ‘University of Opportunity’, the University of Wolverhampton is an integral part of economic growth and social change within the West Midlands and beyond.

The School of Business and Law is based in the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences and has a distinguished record of supporting people and organisations. We have extensive business networks and work collaboratively with a wide range of professional bodies and offer on campus and online courses, degree apprenticeships and have a growing portfolio of collaborative partners in the UK and overseas.

Alongside teaching duties, we are looking for an individual to support in Faculty’s Legal Advice Centre, including tutoring of students in the necessary skills for legal advice and supervising students’ advice giving. You will be required to engage with local practitioners, voluntary sector organisations and other relevant employers in the justice system to enhance mentoring opportunities and to lead and support students participating in legal skills competitions.

You will have a good honours degree in Law or a Common Professional Examination, an appropriate professional qualification as a Solicitor or Barrister and a current practising certificate. Recent work experience in legal practice is required. You will also have appropriate teaching experience as you will also teach and lead modules on undergraduate and post graduate Law programmes.

The University of Opportunity for Students and Staff

As part of our commitment to ensure the diversity of our staff body reflects those of the student and local communities we serve, we particularly welcome applications from candidates of Black, Asian, or Ethnic Minority heritage, and candidates who are Disabled (including people who may not define themselves as disabled, but nevertheless encounter challenges)
