This is an exciting time to join acute Medical Division where we are incorporating Same Day Emergency Care Service, Short Stay Unit, Acute Assessment Units all into one footprint.
We are seeking an experienced Acute Medical Nurse Leader or AHP, who would like to experience and develop management skills in a busy Assessment Unit, and who can adapt to continually changing situations whilst promoting the highest quality patient care, working closely and collaboratively with the emergency department, to maintain timely and safe patient flow.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking an experienced Acute Medical Nurse or AHP who is ready to develop into a credible and knowledgeable leader of a busy Assessment Unit who can adapt to continually changing situations whilst promoting the highest quality patient care.
The successful candidate needs to be an enthusiastic leader who is passionate about improving service delivery, ensuring we are meeting the needs of patients who require our service whilst maintaining high levels of safety and meeting national Emergency and Urgent care remits.
The post holder will be required to work a mix of long day and night shifts both clinically and supervisory, demonstrating sound clinical knowledge across multiple specialities.

Person specification
Qualifications/Training:
Essential criteria
* Registered nurse on part 1 of the NMC register
* Relevant clinical post registration education to include a recognized Mentorship qualification
* Evidence of on-going professional development through professional profile
* Managerial and leadership qualification /relevant experience
* ATLS, ALS, ILS and ATNC
Desirable criteria
* Relevant degree or working towards Degree
Experience
Essential criteria
* Registered Nurse with proven recent experience at Band 6 in the acute specialty setting
* Uses evidence based practice to support care delivery
* Evidence of an understanding in expenditure and budget management
* Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings with patients, relatives, carers, senior leaders and other members of staff of varying levels of understanding
Desirable criteria
* Involvement in audit/research and willingness to present findings at meetings and conferences.
* Cross specialty experience at band 6
Skills
Essential criteria
* Ability to communicate effectively at a complex level-excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent clinical knowledge and skills, ability to detect deterioration and manage accordingly
* Ability to advocate for all patients, particularly vulnerable patients
* Ability to manage self and others in delivery of own work and related clinical outcomes to meet departmental expectations.
Desirable criteria
* Research and development including presentation at national and international conferences.
