Event & Operations Manager

Location: Room One @ Hartford Golf Club, Burrows Hill, Hartford, Cheshire, CW8 3AP

Salary: Competitive + benefits

About Room One & Hartford Golf Club

Room One is a premium wedding, conference, and events venue set within Hartford Golf Club — a well-established, family-run golf centre featuring a driving range, 9-hole course, Pro Shop, Adventure Golf, Padel and golfers' lounge.

Room One has become a sought-after venue in Cheshire. We are now looking for an ambitious and experienced Event & Operations Manager to lead, manage, and grow the hospitality and events side of the business.

The Role

As Event & Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for the planning, coordination, and delivery of weddings, conferences, and events, ensuring an exceptional guest experience at every stage. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining operational excellence, team management, and commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan, coordinate, and deliver weddings, conferences, and events to the highest standard
* Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring expectations are met and exceeded
* Oversee all event administration, including contracts, bookings, and invoicing
* Manage staff rotas
* Ensure all event spaces are set up according to client specifications
* Maintain Room One, the golfers' lounge, gardens, and wider club to show-round standards
* Meet and greet guests on arrival and act as Toastmaster when required
* Lead weekly team meetings covering events, food & beverage, and special requirements
* Manage stock levels, conduct regular stock takes, and maintain inventory controls
* Ensure the department operates efficiently within agreed quarterly budgets
* Analyse monthly event bookings and sales performance, identifying growth opportunities
* Ensure compliance with all health & safety, food hygiene, fire, and EHO regulations
* Recruit, train, mentor, and develop all event staff
* Ensure team members are fully trained on all equipment and systems
* Work closely with management to develop marketing and promotional initiatives to drive event sales

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a motivated, professional leader with a passion for delivering outstanding events and customer experiences. Organised, detail-focused, and commercially minded, you will take pride in every aspect of the venue and its reputation.

Skills & Experience Required

* Proven experience in a hospitality or events management role, ideally within: Weddings, conferences, events venues or Hotels/Golf Clubs
* Strong people management skills, including recruitment, training, and performance management
* Sales and marketing experience with a track record of driving new business
* Commercial and financial acumen, including budget management and reporting
* Experience with stock control and inventory management
* Knowledge of food safety systems, health & safety, and industry best practices
* Confident IT skills, including email and Microsoft Office
* Experience using social media for business (desirable)
* Awareness of current hospitality and events industry trends
* Personal licence and food hygiene qualifications (desirable)
* Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours
