Mechanical Estimator - London based M&E Contractor

About the Role:
An established provider of mechanical, electrical, and security services is looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their growing Projects Department. With over 40 years of experience working with a wide range of clients, from local authorities and NHS trusts to private sector businesses, they are known for delivering high-quality, reliable services.
As a Mechanical Estimator, you'll play a key role in helping to deliver successful projects by working closely with the Bid Team and Contract Managers to prepare accurate estimates.
From calculating project costs to liaising with clients and suppliers, you'll be crucial in ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare bids for mechanical projects and calculate costs for materials, labour, transport, and other expenses.
Review mechanical and electrical drawings, providing accurate take-offs.
Source and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, creating detailed price lists.
Visit project sites to understand scope and site-specific requirements.
Stay up to date with industry trends, ensuring estimates reflect current market conditions.
Assist with tender submissions and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
Manage multiple tenders at once, delivering proposals under tight deadlines.
Provide technical advice and value engineering solutions to clients as needed.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A strong mechanical background (electrical knowledge is a bonus).
At least 5 years of experience in mechanical estimating.
Proficiency with estimating software, preferably Ensign.
Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex information.
A proactive approach and the ability to manage your time effectively.
A team player who enjoys working collaboratively.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Relevant qualifications in Construction Management, Structural Engineering, or Quantity Surveying.
A full UK driving licence.
An eagerness to continue developing your skills and qualifications.
