Band 6 Senior Nurse – Thurrock Day Hospital

NELFT are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 Senior Nurse to join our team in Thurrock Day Hospital.

The service currently operates from 08:30 – 16:30 hrs Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays.


Responsibilities

The post holder will support peers and the team leader and be an effective team member while working on their own initiative. They will supervise pre-registration students. They will have a commitment to collaborative working, actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies.

The post holder will lead clinic based care, primarily for patients with Complex Wounds (predominantly Leg Ulcers), providing a high standard of nursing care to patients and their families in the clinic environment. The clinics are currently on 2 sites in Grays and Corringham, with a view to expand to a 3rd location in the future, so travel to either site is required. The service also provides management of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC lines) within the clinic as well as diagnostic tests (ECG and 24hr BP monitoring) on behalf of primary care. The post holder would need to become competent at these and help coordinate the referrals in and the delivery of the service.

The post holder will work as part of the nursing team, working within and across professional and organisational boundaries. Liaising with GPs, other professionals, and statutory and voluntary agencies. The senior nurse works without direct supervision and provides leadership to junior members of the team.

Please note this is not a community mental health role.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period.


Benefits

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,303 and a maximum payment of £2,198 per annum, pro rata for part time).
