Health & Safety Officer – Estates Department
Location: Central Services
Salary: £30,000+ (plus car allowance)
Reporting to: Estates Director
Progression: Yes

What you’ll be doing:
9. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act, RIDDOR, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, and Fire Safety regulations
10. Develop, review, and maintain policies, procedures, and risk assessments
11. Work closely with maintenance and operational teams to implement safe systems of work, including permits, isolation procedures, and contractor controls
12. Conduct site inspections, audits, and monitoring activities across multiple locations
13. Lead and support incident reporting and investigations, producing clear reports with root cause analysis
14. Deliver training, toolbox talks, and briefings to staff at all levels
15. Promote a positive and proactive safety culture across the organisation
16. Support managers and teams with practical health and safety advice
17. Maintain accurate, audit-ready records and produce reports for senior leadership
18. Act as the main contact for external health and safety consultants and support annual inspections
Who you are:
19. You have a strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
20. You are confident working in environments such as healthcare, estates, facilities, or other operational settings
21. You are an excellent communicator, able to engage with frontline teams and senior leadership
22. You are organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities independently
23. You are analytical, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
24. You are confident delivering training and influencing a positive safety culture
25. You are a team player who is approachable, supportive, and solutions-focused
26. Desirable:
27. NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards)
28. IOSH membership (TechIOSH/GradIOSH)
29. Experience within health and social care or similar regulated environments
30. Training or “Train the Trainer” qualification
