The Role
We’re looking for Biomedical Scientists to join our histology laboratory team in Huntingdon. Reporting to a Senior Biomedical Scientist, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality histopathology services, supporting both clinical and research efforts.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform technical work for clinical and research services.
* Prepare and dissect clinical specimens following Royal College of Pathologists guidelines.
* Conduct routine diagnostic histology: embedding, microtomy, staining, immunohistochemistry, and quality control.
* Maintain and troubleshoot lab instruments.
* Train colleagues in histology procedures.
* Ensure compliance with ISO 15189, HCPC standards, and the Human Tissue Act.
* Accurately enter and manage patient data in LIMS.
* Participate in out-of-hours services for urgent biopsies.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* BSc in a biological discipline.
* HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
* Experience in a pathology lab and histopathology techniques.
* Strong histology bench skills and lab record-keeping.
* Familiarity with ISO 15189 standards and health & safety regulations.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable:
* Experience with digital pathology.
