Job Title: Children and Family Worker
Location: Featherstone Town Hall - Wakfield
Pay: £15.43
Reporting to: Team Manager – Intensive Support Team
Key Responsibilities
* Work directly with children and families to support safe care within the family.
* Deliver individual and group interventions.
* Provide observations and recommendations to support assessments.
* Report safeguarding concerns to social workers/managers.
* Support families in building positive relationships and social confidence.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to multi-agency meetings.
* Promote high-quality services and personal development.
* Comply with health & safety, data protection, and council policies.
Knowledge Requirements
Essential:
* Child development and needs (physical/emotional).
* Barriers to learning and development.
* Family stress and its impact.
* Safeguarding awareness and procedures.
Desirable:
* Childcare law knowledge.
Skills
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Time management and flexibility.
* Sensitivity in dealing with families in crisis.
* Ability to build effective relationships with families and professionals.
Experience
* Minimum 2 years working with children/families in difficulty.
* Outreach or one-to-one work with parents/carers.
* Experience delivering group parenting programmes.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Working Conditions
* May include work outside normal office hours.
* Eligible for essential car user allowance.
* Must comply with Council’s Smoking Policy.
