Job overview

The prosthetics service is looking for a physiotherapist with experience of working with amputees and rehabilitation to join the service on a fixed term contract to support patient care and research and audit projects.

The successful applicant will be expected to join an established MDT to specifically support the current resource in ensuring that high quality patient care is continued to those who have experienced limb loss or difference.

Main duties of the job

·To act as an autonomous, registered practitioner who is legally and professionally accountable for own unsupervised actions guided by the professional code of conduct and Trust guidelines and protocols.

·To be able to assess and develop plans of care to meet the complex needs of patients with long term conditions, recognising own limitations and seeking advice when necessary. This will include continuously evaluating and acting on outcomes.

·Formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options for people with lower and or upper limb amputations pre and post prosthetics.

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,192 to a maximum of £2,011 pro rata for part time).

Qualifications

Essential criteria

4. NVQ level 3 or equivalent standard of education in literacy and numeracy
5. Professional qualification in physiotherapy

Desirable criteria

6. one years experience of working in amputee rehabilitation

Experience

Essential criteria

7. Experience of working with patients with severe physical disabilities
8. Experience of working with people following lower limb and/or upper limb loss
9. Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge

Essential criteria

10. Physiotherapy applied to physical conditions: able to assess and identify the needs of the client.
11. knowledge of pre and post prosthetic management
12. Knowledge of quality measurement, clinical audit and standard setting.

Desirable criteria

13. Attended specific courses in the management of people with amputations

Skills

Essential criteria

14. Basic awareness of IT and IT skills

Desirable criteria

15. Experience of supervising other staff
