Your company
Our client is a large multidisciplinary firm providing services such as land access and assembly, agricultural liaison, planning, environmental impact assessments, and geospatial mapping.
Their Environmental and Planning Team seeks an experienced Principal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Planner to support their growing expertise.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Scotland, a comprehensive understanding of Scottish policies and legislation, and the ability to engage with stakeholders and clients.
Your new role
In this role, you will:
1. Lead or manage a small team delivering environmental planning services, focusing on technical EIA and planning for projects with varying environmental sensitivities.
2. Coordinate EIA projects in accordance with UK environmental and planning legislation and guidance, providing advice and preparing reports from initial screening to EORs.
3. Stay informed about policy changes and ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, technical specialists, and local authorities.
5. Manage your own and your teams performance, meeting deadlines and objectives proactively.
6. Support the wider team and business development efforts, offering guidance on complex cases and identifying new opportunities.
7. Maintain your professional knowledge through CPD and, if applicable, work towards professional memberships such as IEMA or RTPI.
8. Support and develop junior staff, providing feedback and delegating tasks effectively.
9. Ensure all work complies with legal, regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements.
What youll need to succeed
* A relevant EIA and/or planning degree, with chartered membership of IEMA and/or MRTPI.
* Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to write proposals and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
* Commercial awareness to understand client needs and stakeholder negotiations.
* Knowledge of GIS and environmental technical disciplines.
* Self-motivated, organized, and a team player with a can-do attitude.
* A full UK driving license.
