Secretary - Queensferry Medical Practice
The purpose of this role is to provide first class secretarial support to the GP Practice and to deliver excellent levels of administration and customer service. Responding to requests from clinicians, external services and other team members, you will complete a wide variety of tasks.
Main duties of the job
Processing NHS and private referrals via clinical systems, WCCG and Medisec
Audio-typing referrals and clinical correspondence
Workflow administration for clinical correspondence
Effective read coding
Completing private medical requests/reports and issuing invoices

A modern skill mixed progressive team serving a population of around 8700 patients - with 2 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 2 long-term locum ANP's, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA & an excellent administration support team. We use Emis web and have access to Lexacom digital dictation. We have easy and fast access to M56, M53 and A55 so are easily accessible from Cheshire, Merseyside, Manchester and North Wales. We are uniquely localised between two nearest hospitals providing secondary care services - Wrexham (under NHS Wales) and Chester (under NHS England).
Job responsibilities
To provide essential administrative support to the doctors and healthcare teams, ensuring efficient service and high-quality patient care. Managing patient referrals, audio-typing clinical correspondence and handling patient queries via telephone and email. You will maintain accurate, secure medical records, process incoming hospital correspondence and assist with general practice administration to ensure efficient patient care.
Processing NHS and private patient referrals, typing letters, reports and handling clinical coding.
Acting as a key point of contact for patients and hospital staff regarding appointments, tests and queries.
Managing incoming mail and test results, ensuring urgent matters are brought to the GP's attention.
Adhering to strict confidentiality protocols regarding all patient data.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Knowledge of the health care sector.
* Knowledge of General Practice. Medical terminology knowledge. High-speed audio typing skills.
Knowledge and Skills
* Good communication. Team working. Customer service. Resilience. Empathy. Strong IT skills. Willingness to learn.
* Welsh speaker. Knowledge of EMIS
Experience
* Working in a customer service environment both face to face and telephone. Working with the public. Working in a busy office environment. Working under pressure.
* Working in General Practice. Completing referrals. Workflow administration for clinical correspondence.
