Senior Clinical Fellow - Pelvic Oncology

We are seeking two Senior Clinical Fellows in Urology with an interest in Pelvic Oncology to complement the existing team at MSE Hospitals, with Southend Hospital as the base site. Our Urology Service has been given the exciting opportunity to expand across all three sites and support our growth in referrals and build on our fantastic team.
The role will have access to dedicated Pelvic Oncology training including RALPs with our two Da Vinci Robots and will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of Pelvic Oncology patients in Urology.
The purpose of these posts is to provide and coordinate an effective cancer Urology service and to develop a sub-specialty interest that complements the department. They are also expected to take part in all departmental activities, including a pelvic on-call rota, audit and teaching.

Main duties of the job

Below is an overview of the main duties entailed within the role:
* You will assist the Pelvic Consultant Surgeons in the provision of Urological Services
* Clinics – You will support new and follow-up urology clinics predominantly for Pelvic Cancer
* Theatres – You will have the opportunity to participate and be trained in a wide range of major urological procedures including RALPs with our Da Vinci Robots
* Ward duties – You will undertake daily ward rounds supporting the existing team of junior doctors and consultants with the Pelvic Patients
* Academic/Research – The incumbent is expected to play a contributory role in current departmental research, audit, quality improvement projects and teaching as well as lead research projects under the supervision of Consultants
* On Call – You will participate in Pelvic On-Call Rota

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MRCS Part 1
* MRCS Part 2
* Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons or Equivalent
* Higher Degree
* Full Registration with the General Medical Council
Experience
* Core Trainee/SHO Experience of Urology
* Proven experience as a Middle Grade in Urology
* Operative experience in Pelvic Surgery
* Motivated to ensure the achievements of defined targets
* Undertaken research in a relevant field
Audit and Clinical Governance
* Interest in, and knowledge of medical audit and understanding the principles of evidence-based audit
* An understanding of the principles of Clinical Governance
Leadership Skills
* Ability to motivate and develop junior medical and other staff
