A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Civil Engineer to join its expanding highways and infrastructure design team. The organisation delivers a wide range of transport and infrastructure projects across local, national and international markets and is known for its strong technical capability, collaborative culture andmitment to professional development.
Your new role
As a Civil Engineer within the highways and active travel team, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of a broad portfolio of infrastructure schemes. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, leading and supporting junior engineers while contributing to high-quality project oues.Typical projects include highway and junction improvements, cycleways and greenways, public transport schemes, drainage and SuDS design, pavement schemes, maintenance programmes and major road or bridge projects. You will also support projects remotely across wider geographical regions where required.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Producing technically sound civil engineering designs in accordance with relevant standards and client requirements
2. Preparing and checking designs, calculations, drawings and technical documentation
3. Supervising and mentoring junior engineers and taking responsibility for delegated work
4. Managing workload delivery within a small technical team
5. Liaising with clients, stakeholders and suppliers, including attending meetings and responding to queries
6. Supporting bid preparation and work-winning activities
7. Undertaking site visits and, where required, temporary site-based roles, including occasional out-of-hours working
What you'll need to succeed
8. Degree (or Master’s) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
9. Relevant post-graduate experience in civil or highways engineering
10. Ability to work with minimal supervision and review the work of others
11. Strong understanding of highway design standards, best practice guidance and local standards
12. Sound knowledge of CDM regulations and their application to highway design
13. Ability to deliver work on time, within budget and to the required quality
14. Experience using highway design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD or other specialist packages (desirable)
