In this role, youll help evaluate materials, improve product performance, and contribute to ongoing innovation across the business. You will gain a clear understanding of how ideas evolve into practical solutions that support wider business objectives. The role involves working to defined project budgets and timelines, with close collaboration across teams. Junior R&D Technician Candidate Requirements Educated to postgraduate level in a science-based discipline, with experience in laboratory, manufacturing, or technical environments (work, placement, or academic). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to identifying root causes and evaluating solutions. Able to interpret test data, identify anomalies, and draw clear, meaningful conclusions. Well-organised, able to manage tasks to deadlines, budgets, and changing project priorities with attention to detail. Proficient in standard IT tools for data handling, reporting, research, communication, and presentations. Effective communicator and team player, comfortable working across R&D, production, and quality functions in both lab and practical settings. Proactive, self-motivated, and curious, with a willingness to learn, take initiative, and drive continuous improvement. Junior R&D Technician Key Responsibilities (but not limited to) Good understanding of safe laboratory practices, including safe working methods and accurate record-keeping. Support the Technologists across all aspects of product development. Knowledge of raw material behaviour and response to different processing conditions. Understanding of production processes to support collaboration, problem solving, and teamwork. Ability to contribute to R&D projects, meeting deadlines and keeping stakeholders informed.
