Your mission
This is a first-class opportunity to join Sungrow Power EMEA as a principal engineer, specialising in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), based in the United Kingdom. As a principal engineer, you will focus on technical design and customized ESS solutions to support energy storage projects, mainly BESS, and take a leading role in supporting Sungrow's ESS European market development. You will also support solar PV, wind, and other renewable energy projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing and performing high-quality technical advisory work for pre-sales activities.
2. Project management and interfacing between engineering disciplines (electric, mechanical, civil, control schemes).
3. Providing technical input from initial assessment through to feasibility studies and integration with other power sources.
4. Reviewing project designs and suggesting improvements for ESS projects.
5. Preparing and managing specifications, tendering, negotiations, and selection of battery storage systems.
6. Conducting due diligence and supporting customers and lenders during financial close, including liaising with legal and financial advisors.
7. Knowledge of utility network connection studies and PCS performance approval processes is advantageous.
8. Establishing ESS technical specifications in accordance with European regulations and international standards (IEC/IEEE).
Your profile
We are looking for candidates with:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent (preferably electrical).
* Experience with BESS technology, ideally with both UK and European markets.
* In-depth knowledge of BESS technologies, including emerging trends and international markets.
* Technical advisory experience with investors and project developers, particularly in BESS plant design.
* Experience with solar PV or hybrid project development and delivery.
* Proven ability to communicate technical reviews effectively with clients and project stakeholders (utilities, EPCs, etc.).
* English proficiency at C1 level or higher; additional languages are a plus.
