Registered General Nurse - Ward (Full Time)

Sancta Maria Hospital offers treatmentacross all major medical specialties and care at every step of the process,from initial consultations, assessments and diagnostic tests to treatment,rehabilitations and post-operative care.

HMT Sancta Maria, along with theirsister hospital HMT St Hughs in Grimsby, has a mission to provide safe, highquality care in order to improve the health, wellbeing and independence oftheir patients. Part of the Healthcare Management Trust, HMT Sancta Maria is anon-profit organisation using their surpluses to fund medical research,educational grants and dementia charities

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required toprovide high standards of direct patient care to a variety of differentsurgical patients within the ward/day unit environment. Enhancing patient care,while developing specific clinical competencies and enhancing own knowledgethrough a lifelong learning approach

The post holder will work under theguidance of the ward manager and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoringand maintaining excellent standards of nursing care as part of the ward team.

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care withthe guidance and support of more senior staff. To be flexible in the approachto the clinical area and provide cover according to experience for any areaspecified.

The post holder will be accountable fortheir nursing practice, adhere to the policies and protocols of HMT and theNMC. He/she will have a responsibility for their own personal and professionaldevelopment and will assist in the continuing professional development andoverall performance of learners e.g. student nurses and junior staff in theclinical area.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Adult Nurse
* Evidence of CPD
* Completion of Relevant training/ development programmes


Knowledge & Skills

* Nurse and care for a variety specialties and complexities of
* surgery
* Contribute to the development of programs of competency
* Ability to analyze and prioritize patient care
* Ability to work under pressure and provide high care standards
* To act as a patient advocate
* Act as a team member within the ward/ department
* Assisting with other members of the team in maintaining a safe
* The safe administration of medications
* Completing and updating accurate patient documentation.
* To use the correct procedure when handing a patient into the
* care of another nurse, giving the correct information and
* instruction.
* IT Skills


Experience

* Experience In management, and wound management, Venepuncture skills
* NHS or Independent sector experience
