This position is based at our Head Office. You must live within a reasonable distance to the office or be willing to relocate by the role commencement date.
Job Purpose
Working in our busy, fast paced Buying Team at our Head Office in Amersham you will play a pivotal role in the close management of a designated number of categories and suppliers to deliver the agreed KPI's. Alongside a keen interest in the toy market, you will also be a skilled negotiator with awesome communication skills and be supremely organised. As an expert in your field, you will be able to deep dive into the full commercial analysis of your product range whilst also stepping back and maintaining a more holistic view of wider business and functions. This is a key role in ensuring we execute and trade a high performing range in all our stores, online platforms and partnerships and requires great teamwork and flexibility. Attending Trade Fairs and our supplier base will be a prerequisite of the role.
Skills & Experience
1. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar commercial role within retail.
2. Previous front line supplier facing experience.
3. Ideally a degree level or equivalent qualification in subject matter.
4. Commercially astute with a proven track record of leading negotiations to a successful conclusion.
5. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
6. Full UK, valid driver’s licence.
Responsibilities
7. Have a full understanding of available product ranges by attending Supplier Previews, Trade fairs and presentations.
8. Develop a great relationship with our suppliers to ensure we gain access to excellent terms, exclusives, improved pricing, deals and promotions.
9. Always on negotiations with supplier on terms and conditions, costs, margins and funding.
10. Formulating seasonal range plans to meet budgeted targets and KPI's.
11. Maximising sales in all channels, partners and platforms by implementing a robust joint promotional plan with your supplier base.
12. Laising with key stakeholders and departments to ensure the critical path and projects are completed on a timely basis.
13. Being well versed with our competitor landscape, Toy trends and detecting upcoming Toy fashions and crazes.
14. Ensuring all product data, forecasts, orders and store ranging is accurate.
15. Present and follow up on actions on Weekly/Monthly Trade meetings and calls.
