Network engineer

Salary: £40,000 - 40,000 per year Requirements: We require at least 1 year of experience working as a Network Engineer, IT Engineer, or in a similar role within an enterprise or service provider environment. We require practical troubleshooting experience across core routing and switching technologies. We require a solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN, VLANs, and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF. We require experience supporting multi-vendor environments such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and AWS. We require familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and ticketing systems such as SolarWinds, ServiceNow, and BMC Remedy. We prefer a CCNA or equivalent networking certification; CCNP or JNCIA is highly advantageous. We require candidates to be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC). We are looking for someone who can work onsite in Belfast and operate on a 24/7 shift rotation. Responsibilities: We will have you monitor network performance, capacity, and availability using enterprise tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and Juniper MIST. We will have you diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network faults across LAN, WAN, SDWAN, and telecoms services while minimizing service impact. We will have you log, manage, and progress incidents and service requests through their full lifecycle with accurate updates and detailed documentation. We will have you work within defined SLAs to ensure timely resolution and high first-time fix rates. We will have you perform routine network health checks and preventative maintenance, including patches, firmware updates, and minor configuration changes. We will have you produce clear incident reports, detailed shift handovers, and technical documentation. We will have you escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior engineers or external vendors when needed. We will have you communicate clearly and professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders while staying calm under pressure. We will have you support a hands-on, shift-based operation in a fast-paced, high-visibility Technology Operations Command Centre.
