🚀 2nd Line IT Engineer - Education Sector | Google Cloud & Jamf Focus

💼 Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 per annum
Are you a proactive and experienced 2nd Line IT Engineer looking to step up in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment? We're seeking a hands-on IT professional with a strong background in end-user support, device management, and cloud infrastructure—particularly Google Workspace and Jamf Pro—to play a vital role in the day-to-day support and development of IT services across a growing educational organisation.
You'll work as part of a dedicated IT team, helping to support users across multiple sites, while contributing to continuous improvement, digital safeguarding, and strategic IT projects.
🔧 Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 2nd line support for users across hardware, software, and network issues
2. Take ownership of escalated tickets and complex support cases, ensuring timely resolution
3. Manage and maintain systems including Google Workspace, Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, and Azure AD
4. Support and configure mobile device management (MDM) solutions for MacOS/iOS and Windows devices
5. Assist in delivering IT projects and digital transformation initiatives
6. Monitor and maintain security protocols, safeguarding user data and ensuring compliance
7. Work closely with teaching, support, and leadership staff to ensure IT meets user needs
8. Liaise with 3rd party vendors and escalate issues where appropriate
9. Document processes and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the IT team
✅ Requirements:
10. Proven experience in a 2nd line IT support or infrastructure role
11. Hands-on experience with Google Workspace (admin side) and Jamf Pro
12. Good knowledge of Intune, Azure AD, and endpoint security
13. Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills across macOS, Windows, and ChromeOS
14. Familiarity with network management, including switching, Wi-Fi, and basic firewall principles
15. Excellent communication and user-facing skills
16. Experience supporting users in educational or multi-site environments
17. Ability to work independently, manage workload, and prioritise effectively
18. Understanding of safeguarding and data protection responsibilities
🌟 Desirable:
19. Experience working with Arbor MIS or other school systems
20. IT certifications (e.g. CompTIA, Google Certified, Microsoft)
21. Familiarity with project/change management methodologies
22. Previous work in a special educational needs (SEN) environment
23. Experience assisting with procurement, asset management, or vendor relationships
24. UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally or support out-of-hours on occasion
