An exciting opportunity has arisen at United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT), in the Lincolnshire Newborn hearing screening team for a band 4 senior screener. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed screener, who will support the Manager and is able to supervise existing staff and train new staff.
Main duties of the job
* To support Local Manager and the screening team by taking responsibility for the delivery and the day-to-day management of all aspects of the programme.
* To perform regular data quality checks, including searches on the hearing screening database to ensure that all babies are seen in a timely manner.
* To manage and monitor hearing screen outpatient clinics.
* To maintain screening equipment and ensure QA checks are performed.
* To lead the hearing screening team and line manage their activity.
* To prepare and maintain staff rotas via e-rostering.
* To participate in the recruitment and selection of staff.
* To organise and actively participate in the induction programme of new staff and their subsequent training.
Person specification
Qualifications
* NVQ in Health at Level 4.
* NVQ or Health Screeners Diploma in Newborn Hearing Screening or equivalent qualification in Audiology.
Previous Experience
* Previous relevant experience as a Newborn Hearing Screener or experience within Audiology.
Evidence of Knowledge and Skills
* Good baby handling skills.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Competent computer skills in work and excel.
* Ability to manage own workload and delegate.
* Experience of working in a constantly changing environment.
* Self-motivated and effective team player.
* Ability to expand on basic skills and existing knowledge.
Specific Requirements
* Ability to communicate sensitive/confidential information and reassurance.
* Driving licence holder (to travel to community clinics).
* Flexibility for involvement in a 7 day a week service on a team rota basis.
* Access to transport.
