In this role, you'll support the Royal Navy‑led Refit Support Group (RSG) and Maintenance Support Unit (MSU) on Type 45 Destroyers, delivering electrical maintenance, fault finding and defect rectification during upkeep periods. You will carry out daily UMMS tasks and Category "A" maintenance across ship systems, support STOROB activities, maintain accurate reporting on equipment condition, and ensure a safe working environment in full compliance with SHE policies and statutory regulations.
Responsibilities
* Carry out daily UMMS tasks, Category "A" maintenance, and STOROB activities, ensuring high‑quality work within agreed timelines.
* Maintain, monitor, and report on the material state of the ship, identifying defects and overseeing their analysis and rectification.
* Apply engineering knowledge and sound judgment to solve technical problems and support decision‑making processes.
* Ensure full compliance with all SHE policies, procedures, and statutory regulations at all times.
* Collaborate effectively with colleagues, contributing to team decisions and cross‑trade activities, with training provided where needed.
* Support, guide, and provide on‑the‑job training to team members, fostering skills development and operational excellence.
* Work flexibly across trade disciplines as required, adapting to changing operational priorities. This role is responsible for carrying out tasks to support the RN‑led Refit Support Group (RSG) and Maintenance Support Unit (MSU), including fault analysis, defect repair, and STOROB activities during Type 45 upkeep periods, while maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with BAE Systems SHE policies and procedures.
Qualifications
* HNC/HND or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline.
* Strong knowledge of electrical systems and experience in maintenance and defect analysis, including lighting circuits, low‑voltage (LV) motors, testing electrical components (e.g., pressure switches, ROVs), PMS, and EPMS systems.
