Role: Fire Door Installation & Remediation Manager
Location: Multi-site (regional/national as required)
Reporting to: Contracts/Project Director (Koncept Group Ltd)
Working with: Site Supervisors, Fire Door Operatives, Principal Contractor, Client Representatives, Accreditation Bodies (FIRAS, BM TRADA, FDIS)
1. Purpose of Role
To plan, manage, and oversee the delivery of fire door installation and remediation projects across multiple sites, ensuring works are carried out safely, on time, to budget, and in full compliance with statutory, accreditation, and client requirements.
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1 Project Management
* Coordinate fire door installation, remediation, and inspection works across assigned sites.
* Develop project delivery programmes and allocate resources effectively.
* Liaise with clients, Principal Contractors, and end-users to agree site access and phasing.
* Produce/update RAMS and method statements tailored to each project.
2.2 Technical Oversight
* Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and fire strategy documents.
* Ensure correct fire door assemblies, hardware, intumescents, seals, and associated materials are specified and installed in line with BS 8214, BS EN 1634, and manufacturer's guidance.
* Oversee remediation works, including gap sealing, frame/fire-stopping, ironmongery replacements, and certification labelling.
* Maintain strict adherence to FIRAS/BM TRADA/FDIS requirements.
2.3 Compliance & Quality Control
* Carry out regular quality assurance inspections on each site.
* Sign off fire door installations/remediations and ensure photographic evidence (e.g. via Bolster system) is captured.
* Ensure all works meet Building Regulations, client specifications, and third-party accreditation standards.
* Lead corrective actions in the event of non-conformances.
2.4 Health, Safety & Environment
* Act as site lead for H&S compliance on fire door activities.
* Ensure RAMS, permits to work, and site inductions are in place and briefed to operatives.
* Enforce PPE standards
* Undertake tool-box talks, HAVS monitoring, and manual handling briefings.
* Report and investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe practices.
2.5 People Management
* Supervise site supervisors and operatives across multiple projects.
* Monitor productivity, workmanship, and attendance.
* Provide technical training, mentoring, and ongoing competency checks for joiners/fitters.
* Ensure subcontractors are vetted, approved, and managed in line with company procedures.
2.6 Commercial & Reporting
* Monitor costs against budget and report variances.
* Approve time sheets and ensure correct labour allocation.
* Manage material orders and deliveries to avoid delays.
* Provide weekly progress reports to Contracts/Project Director.
* Support tender reviews and advise on feasibility/pricing where required.
3. Deliverables
* Approved RAMS and method statements for all sites.
* Weekly programme and resource updates.
* Site inspection records and QA sign-offs.
* Photographic evidence packs (Bolster or equivalent).
* Non-conformance reports and corrective action close-outs.
* Monthly performance summary (progress, compliance, incidents, lessons learned).
4. Competence Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in passive fire protection/fire door management.
* FIRAS, BM TRADA, or FDIS accreditation (manager or inspector level).
* SMSTS / SSSTS and First Aid at Work.
* Knowledge of BS 8214, BS EN 1634, BS 476, and HTM 05-02.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across multiple sites.
