Position: Senior VAVE Engineer (Terex screener Platforms)
Location: Dungannon
Hours: 39.75 per week
Reports to: Engineering Director
Role Summary
The VAVE Engineer is responsible for driving Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) activities across Terex Materials Processing products, delivering measurable improvements in cost, quality, safety, and delivery performance. The role owns PPV, eCost, and VA/VE savings outcomes through hands-on, technically rigorous engineering, combining detailed design ownership with strong commercial awareness. The position operates cross-functionally and plays a key role in embedding cost-conscious, value-driven thinking into both legacy products and New Product Development
.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Own and deliver site-level PPV, eCost, and VA/VE targets through structured cost-down initiatives, redesign activities, and supplier engagement.
* Lead technical cost-driver analysis, component teardowns, and clean-sheet redesigns of components, systems and processes.
* Apply simulation techniques and virtual testing tools to model, validate, and optimise opportunities prior to physical build.
* Support prototype build, test rig activity, and physical validation to prove function, durability, and safety of VA/VE solutions.
* Embed VA/VE principles early in NPPD to influence system architecture, target cost, and design definition.
* Lead supplier validation activities including PPAP/FAI, specification definition, and technical alignment.
* Ensure VA/VE initiatives maintain or improve product quality, reliability, and warranty performance.
* Drive ECO execution on VAVE opportunities and configuration control to ensure robust and timely production release.
* Maintain transparent reporting of savings, risks, and progress through shared dashboards and structured governance.
* Actively contribute to safety culture by embedding Zero Harm principles into design decisions and supporting SIF reviews.
* Share best practice through cross-site VAVE forums, mentoring, and structured knowledge-sharing sessions.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Demonstrated experience delivering value and cost savings within a manufacturing or heavy equipment environment.
* Strong background in hydraulic system design, component specification, and electro-hydraulic control.
* Experience supporting New Product Development and influencing design decisions at system level.
* Working knowledge of supplier validation processes, cost modelling, and production release workflows.
* Chartered Engineer status or active progression toward chartership is preferred.
* Experience of Crushing and Conveying equipment would be a distinct advantage.
* Strong planning and execution skills.
* Ability to handle and complete multiple projects under tight deadlines
* Good Presentation and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
* Ability to perform detailed, hands-on engineering design and analysis, translating concepts into production-ready solutions.
* Proficiency in Simulation tools for hydraulic and mechanical modelling and virtual validation.
* Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles, GD&T, and engineering drawing standards.
* Data-driven mindset with experience using Power BI, Excel, or similar tools to track and communicate performance.
* Commercial awareness and ability to balance cost, quality, delivery, and safety trade-offs.
* Strong communication and influencing skills, able to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and suppliers.
