Shift Pattern: 3‑shift rotation (Mon–Fri) + occasional voluntary weekends

About the Role
SRG are supporting a successful and rapidly expanding manufacturing organisation near Leeds, West Yorkshire, in recruiting a proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Leader, you will be responsible for maintaining mechanical equipment, ensuring high levels of plant reliability, and supporting continuous production operations.

Key Responsibilities
* Carry out routine mechanical inspections and deliver effective planned preventive maintenance (PPM).
* Respond swiftly to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and implementing repairs to minimise downtime.
* Work safely at all times, adhering to permit‑to‑work systems, compliance standards, and site safety procedures.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, faults and corrective actions to ensure smooth and detailed shift handovers.
* Work collaboratively with Operations teams and external contractors to resolve engineering issues efficiently.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help maintain a high‑performing, reliable production environment.
Criteria
Essential:
* Mechanical engineering qualification (apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC or equivalent).
* Experience working with mechanical systems such as:
* Pumps
* Gearboxes
* Pneumatics
* Steam systems
* Filling machinery
Desirable:
* Background in manufacturing, FMCG, food, chemical or process environments.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
